In the 1980s, the standard for the coming years was set. With bomb explosions, extremely clever main lead and the prolonged chase scenes that frame the majority of time frame of the film, these particulars were here to stay and even today rule the Action genre.

Buddy Cop: The main focus is on the two cops who don’t match each other in any way but somehow team-up to achieve the purpose.
Caper: In this genre, the lead/leads perform theft or robbery either with a humanitarian purpose in mind or are villains in their personality.
Action+Horror: Just like Horror+Comedy, ingredients from horror movies are also included in the action genre. Along with chase and fights, there are also ghosts, monsters, and robots that add in the staple of terror in action movies.
Action+Science: This sub-category has science fiction as the base to all the happenings and the rush. While the outburst of this category took place in the 1980s and the 1990s, this type brings in futuristic vision, settings, and modern experiments in the limelight.The genre itself is named after the very first film that features the story shot in a limited number of locations. That includes either trapped by the enemies, stuck or seized in a place, or riding a vehicle.
